So Slick

Totally wanted to blog about this last week, but I forgot.

I taught a workshop at Planet Jupiter studio last Saturday. The air conditioning was broken and I had about 25 or so students cramped in a small-ish room. Fast forward to the end of the class - I was soaked in sweat. It was also the night that I was to make a guest appearance at a club event, so I decided to take an impromptu shower in the locker room. I set my backpack down, took out my face towel - it was all I had to dry myself with - and a fresh pair of boxers, got down to my undies and walked to the shower. Halfway through rinsing myself, I realized that my face towel was not in sight. I pulled the shower curtain to the side and realized that it was still resting on top of my backpack 10 feet away. I quickly scoped the room to see if anyone was around. Since it was a walk-in locker room with no door, I had to be stealthy so that no one would catch me walking around naked. In the corner near the entrance was a dude sticking his head out of the window. I looked at him for several seconds and concluded that he was gonna stay there long enough for me to grab my towel. I had no time to waste; I raced for it. Barely one step outside the shower… I slipped; banana peel style. I flew in the air and fell straight on my bare @$$. Then confusion struck me. I was on my back, on the floor, slipping and sliding like a fish that was suddenly without its water. I frantically kicked my legs to propel myself towards the shower. After what seemed like a millennia, I crawled my way back inside. I quickly stood and checked if the dude was still in the room. He was gone. I walked over, shamed, to retrieve my face towel and spent the rest of the shower crazily laughing at myself. I imagined the guy hearing me fall and seeing me flail around like an epileptic, naked and glistening on the floor. After I got dressed, I was paranoid at anyone who smiled at me as I walked out. So ironic - earlier during class I was totally talking about having finesse and being suave. By the end, I was far from feeling “cool.”
