i don't really understand much about raw denim... what's good about it? Also i want to get into jeans what's the first step? i own a couple of levi's i usually go for 511's but is there much difference with levi's and the more expensive jeans out there? BTW i really like your style :)
Oh good, you’re not predisposed to thinking that raw denim is automatically better. But to answer your question, people like raw denim because to them, it signifies quality and prestige. Also, people like the personalized fades the jeans make as they age. Aside from that, to most people, jeans are jeans - they keep your balls from getting cold. I’d say the first step when wanting to “get into jeans” would be to develop your sense of taste. What do you like? Why do you like it? After that, you can pretty much buy anything within your standards. Here are a few words I live by:
-Don’t just buy any pair of jeans, some will fit your body and some won’t. Determining what looks good on you takes time and experience; try different waist sizes and lengths of the same pair and go with your gut feeling. Find the balance between fitting good and looking good.
-Coordinate: Skinny jeans go best with fitted shirts and shoes that are not bulky (i.e. Vans). Don’t be wearing a tall tee and construction boots with skinny jeans unless you want to look like a clown.
-If you’re a chubby kid, don’t wear super tight fitting jeans; you will look ridiculous and the sad part is that no one will tell you.
-Try out other cuts. Everyone wears skinny jeans; just because they’re in style doesn’t mean they’re necessarily what’ll look good on you. Experiment. Personally, I like the matchstick cut from Levi’s because they look better with my Jordans.
-Especially with dark jeans, either dry clean them or don’t wash them at all. Keep your jeans looking new. Don’t look like you’re homeless.
-Trust your instincts. In the end, the most important thing is that you’re happy with your jeans.
BTW… thanks. =)
