i read on one of your posts that you've noticed people in LA dance differently from people in SF and NY and so forth. Can you explain the differences among various cities you've been to with regards to dancing styles and their respective house scenes/culture?

There are differences within the sub-scenes, yes. Actually, I don’t really know two cities in the US that dance the same. To the untrained eye, maybe the differences aren’t very apparent, but if I were to completely generalize between the 3 cities, the difference is in the amount of experience within each respective scene. New York is the oldest of the three, and LA is the youngest. The younger the scene, the more it relies on basic foundational moves and the less evolved the style. As for attitude, I’d say New York is confident, San Francisco has a very hippie mentality, and LA is aggressive. I’d dissect it more, but I don’t want to generalize too much. =)
